It was a welcoming, intimate atmosphere as guests mingled over tasty treats and signature “Gin-teriors” cocktails courtesy of Conbec Gin. Attendees also enjoyed a 10% discount across all items instore and were entered into a draw for spot prizes. What’s more, the first fifty ticket-holders in the door were treated to luxury gift bags with special treats from Max Benjamin and Elite Pilates.

On the day, Kirstie McDermott, the Editorial Director at House & Home Magazine, and Interiors Influencer columnist Jen Connell, offered attendees interiors inspiration so they could start on creating their own style story. What Are Jen’s Top Styling Tips?

Interiors expert Jen Connell shared her favourite home décor tips to help you tell your own style story.

  • For sofas, tap into the current trend for Hollywood Glamour by opting for curvy, feminine shapes.
  • Over the past few years, pink has become a favourite among designers and homeowners alike. Light, chalky pinks work well as a base neutral and offer a colourful alternative to beige and grey.
  • If the Millennial Pink trend isn’t for you, you may want to try mint green instead. This beautiful pastel shade is a great way to add a sense of serenity to a space and goes well with a wide range of other colours.
  • Use a colour wheel when figuring out how to style your sofa with cushions and throws.
  • Don’t be afraid to experiment with velvet furniture. This material is hardier than you think and is easy to maintain as long as you invest in a little TLC from time to time. In fact, cleaning velvet couldn’t be easier – just don a rubber glove and rub the sofa to pick up all the hairs and dust.
  • Layering is the key to a successful interior. To get it right, mix a variety of textures to add visual depth and interest. Jen recommends combining velvet, brass and gold accents, and dark wooden furniture.
  • Use home accessories to easily and cheaply try out new trends.

  • To incorporate the colour contrast trend into your home, start off with a piece that you love the colour of and use colour wheel so you can find the perfect shade to complement it.
  • More and more city dwellers are gravitating towards wooden furniture which allows them to bring an element of the natural world into their homes. High-quality wooden furniture is a wonderful investment for your home and is sure to last through the years,
  • To create an Insta-worthy tablescape use layering. Build up your dining table layer by layer and think about how to best bring together your tablecloth, placemats and crockery for a polished and interesting effect.
